VetPro Dependent Provider Instructions-Helpful Tips
The following tips may be helpful as you complete the VetPro credentialing process. This Credentialing system is used for all medical and nursing staff hired by the VA. In some cases, there will be fields that do not apply to you. Please read all of the instructions carefully.
1. Web address: http://fcp.vetpro.org (or if problems try) https://fcp.vetpro.org
- Username: Use your Social Security Number.
- Password: Changeme1!
2. Before you begin, read each screen, especially the boxes that contain instructions. BLUE FIELDS are “required” information. Be as accurate as possible.
3. PERSONAL PROFILE – Check the information already inputted and change any that is incorrect. Add anything left out. Make sure you ENTER FORMER NAMES if you have any. Save and go to Supplemental Information.
4. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION –. Enter information only if it applies. Most, if not all, of these should be answered “No”. Save and go to Professional Education.
5. PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION – You only need to put in education that pertains to your field. Save and go to Professional Training.
Note to nurses: ALL education relevant to the occupation needs to be entered into VetPro for the credentialing process. So if a nurse had an ASN or AA or was an LPN and then became an RN, all of the education relevant to an occupation for “a nurse” needs to be entered into VetPro.

6. PROFESSIONAL TRAINING – Enter additional training information that pertains to your field. Save and go to Foreign Graduation.
Note to nurses: It would be very unusual for you to have to enter anything in this area. Skip it.
7. FOREIGN GRADUATION – Enter information only if it applies. Most will skip this area.
8. LICENSES – Enter EVERY license IN EVERY state you’ve had to include expired licenses. If you don’t remember the license number, use UNKNOWN. If you don’t remember the date of issue and expiration, use your best guess. Try to put the correct information in (at least the year) – but don’t panic if you can’t find it. Save.Resetafter you save if youhave more than one license to enter.
9. DEA # - Enter information only if it applies. Most will skip this area.

10. CDS – Enter information only if it applies. This section only pertains if you have a controlled substance license. Most will skip this area.
11. CERTIFICATION – Enter national certifications from specialty organizations. Save and go to References.
Note to Nurses: Certification applies to National Nursing RN or LPN certifications from specialty organizations, NOTACLS, BLS, IV Certification, etc. Examples would be AORN, CCRN, ONC, WOCN, CEN, etc. Enter the information from your certification card and make a copy of your card to submit, OR if you have the “original” letter from your certifying body that would be better.For the future, when you renew your certification, there is a place on the application to ask for an additional verification of certification at no extra charge. Please ask for one for your credentialing package.
12. REFERENCES – List at least 3 REFERENCES that you have worked for in the last 5 years. You must enter three (3) references. One must be from your supervisor of your most recent employer. The other two must be in the same field as you and must have been in a position to have observed your work ethics. Do not use relatives or friends. For “Relationship”, suggest you use terms such as supervisor, colleague, co-worker, or peer. If you are a recent graduate and have not worked in this field, one of the references should be from your Program Director. The other two references must be in your same field and observed your work ethics in the school environment.
13. PERSONAL HISTORY – You must account for the entire period after your professional education degree to the present. VetPro questions any gaps in employment greater than 30 days. Any gaps in your employment history greater than 30 days must be entered & explained (i.e., unemployed due to illness, maternity, family responsibilities, etc). If applicable, use “home” for Institution and use your home address (at the time of unemployment) for the address fields. VetPro will not let you submit with gaps. If you are currently working with the VA, please enter this information as well.
Remember in order to enter more than one period you must enter the information, Save, Reset and enter the information until all periods are entered. When complete, place your mouse pointer on Save and proceed to the next screen.
Note to nurses: If you are a registered nurse, only list RN work. If you are an LPN, only list LPN work.
14. PROVIDER SUMMARY – This is a summary of the information you have submitted thus far. This will show you if there are any periods of time unaccounted for.
15. SIGN AND SUBMIT – This is your final screen. Please notify the VetPro Credentialing Coordinator that you have completed your VetPro submission. Your information will be reviewed before you sign and submit. This will help expedite the credentialing process. Once the VetPro coordinator has reviewed your entries you will be notified to sign and submit by typing your personal password which you used to log into the VetPro program. Do not use the password originally issued; use the one you changed it to. You should receive a thank you notification. This means you have completed the process successfully.
