Andy Murray vs Milos Raonic Head to Head:

  • Right-handers Andy Murray and Milos Raonic have met nine times in the past with three of those matches coming this year. Murray leads the series 6-3 at this points after Raonic was 3-1 after their first four encounters. Murray has beaten Raonic five times in a row including 3-0 this year. Murray won in five sets at the Australian Open semifinals, in two sets in Monte-Carlo and in three sets at the Queen’s Club championship contest.

The 29-year-old Murray enters Sundays match after losing to Novak Djokovic in the French Open Final in June. He’s won two major championships and is seeking his second Wimbledon title. He’s 11-0 on the grass while all of Raonic’s career wins have been on the hard court. Murray downed Liam Broady, Yen-Hsun Lu, John Millman, Nick Kyrgios, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Berdych at Wimbledon this year with Tsonga being the only opponent to last more than three sets as he went five. Raonic went five sets with Federer and David Goffin and also defeated Pablo Carreno Busta, Andreas Seppi, Jack Sock, and Sam Querrey.

Wimbledon

The 25-year-old Raonic goes into the match as the underdog, but Federer was also favored to beat him in the semifinal. The Canadian knows what needs to be done to upend Murray, who will be playing in his second Wimbledon final, but it’s easier said than done. Murray is one of the sport’s best serve returners and is a fine defensive player and that’s why he’s beaten Raonic five consecutive times. Murray definitely has the experience in big matches as this will be his 11th Grand Slam final while it’s Raonic’s first ever appearance in one. However, this will be the first time Murray’s the favorite in a Wimbledon final as his first two matches were against Federer and Djokovic.

Murray has been playing better tennis since former great Ivan Lendl returned as his coach. Lendl was with Murray when the Briton won his pair of Grand Slam crowns before they went their own ways in March of 2014. Lendl rejoined Murray a month ago and the chemistry was back as Murray won the Queen’s Club championship by downing Raonic two sets to one after losing the first set. However, Raonic has shown great improvement over the past 24 months as he was swept in the semifinals by Federer at Wimbledon two years ago and took him out in five this time around. Raonic appeared to be down and out this year after Federer took the first set and had him on the ropes in the fourth, but he fought back on three break points and won the final two sets. And fans shouldn’t forget he took Murray to five sets at this year’s Australian Open semifinals in January in Raonic’s second Grand Slam semifinal.

Canadian Eugenie Bouchard defeated Simona Halep today in impressive fashion to book her spot in the Women’s Wimbledon Singles Finals on Saturday. Bouchard is playing some of the best tennis of her life and finally got over that Grand Slam semi-final hump after losing in the semi’s at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros this year. If she can pull off the win at Wimbledon it’s safe to say that Bouchard has had the most successful season on the WTA Tour so far this year!

As a huge fan who has followed Canadian tennis for the past 20 years I have to say that I never thought I’d see a Canadian tennis player in a Grand Slam Final in my lifetime. Congratulations Genie and there is more to come!

Petra Kvitova will be no walkover though. She won the tournament in 2011 and has ripped through her competition so far at this years Wimbledon.

Bouchard vs Kvitova Odds

Here are the odds for which lady will win the coveted tournament from the best sportsbooks online for Canadian bettors:

  • Eugenie Bouchard 2.20 (Bet365)
  • Petra Kvitova 1.84 (SIA)

There is actually a small hedging opportunity on this match at the time of me writing this because the odds are very different between sportsbooks. This is another reason why you should open accounts at multiple sites in order to ensure that you get the best odds available online.

My Pick

BettingFinal

I watched Bouchard’s match against Simona Halep today and she looks nearly unstoppable. Bouchard hits most of her ground strokes to finish rallies and I was very impressed with her composure down the stretch as well. Bouchard ended up winning the second set 6-2 after a hard fought tie break win in the first set gave her the lead. Bouchard has now beaten several seeded players on route to this finals. These players include Halep #3, Kerber #9, Cornet #25 and Petkovic #20. Even with facing all of these top players Bouchard has not dropped a set and has now won 12 straight sets through these 6 matches!

Kvitova, who is the #6 seed at the tournament will be her biggest test yet. She is also playing amazing tennis and has only dropped one set through the tournament, which was her opening set with Venus Williams in the third round. Kvitova actually hasn’t played nearly as difficult of opponents as Bouchard though. She has only played 2 seeded players: #30 Venus Williams and #23 Lucie Safarova in the semi-finals. Bouchard is going to be on another level from these players because she is actually much better than her #13 seeding at only 20 years of age as well.

Wimbledon Final Betting Preview Odds

I really like Bouchard to win this match. She is playing amazing tennis and is ready to take this next step as a Grand Slam winner. She has said herself that she is very comfortable at Wimbledon and she actually won the Junior singles title here two years ago so she knows what it takes to win a Wimbledon event, just like her opponent. I’m actually somewhat surprised that Bouchard is the underdog in this match.

My Play: Eugenie Bouchard 2.20 @ Bet365.com.

Wimbledon Final Betting Preview Predictions

I also like the 3.40 odds for Bouchard to win 2 sets to 0 that Bodog.eu is offering.
